2025 Grammy nominations: every Canadian named this year

The Canadian music industry is abuzz with excitement as Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” album dominates the Grammy nominations this year. Toronto producer Nathan Ferraro has secured three nominations, including record of the year, thanks to his collaboration with German-Canadian songwriter Megan Bülow and Calgary-raised Elizabeth Lowell Boland on the track “Texas Hold ‘Em.”

Boland expressed her disbelief at the nominations, admitting that she was feeling numb from the news. Both Boland and Ferraro acknowledged that this career milestone was unexpected but welcomed with open arms.

In addition to Ferraro’s success, Montreal’s Dave Hamelin, known for his work with the band the Stills, received a nod for producing, engineering, and mixing in the album of the year category for “Cowboy Carter.”

Other notable Canadian contenders include Halifax-raised hitmaker Cirkut, who earned two nominations for his collaboration with Charli XCX on “Brat.” Audio engineer Serban Ghenea continues his Grammy streak with five nominations in key categories, bringing his total career nominations to an impressive 50.

R&B singer Deborah Cox, Montreal’s Kaytranada, and Ottawa-born guitarist Sue Foley are among the Canadian artists recognized in various Grammy categories. Montreal’s Sara Diamond and Toronto’s Scott Zhang also received nominations for their songwriting contributions in the best R&B song category.

The classical music scene is also well-represented by Montreal’s Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who received three nominations, including best opera recording. Toronto-born baritone Elliot Madore also earned a nomination for his role in “Adams: Girls of the Golden West.”

With a diverse range of Canadian talent making waves at the Grammys, the music industry is showcasing the country’s rich musical landscape on a global stage. The nominations serve as a testament to the hard work and dedication of these artists, solidifying their place in the music industry.
