Man seriously injured in Dartmouth vehicle-pedestrian crash

Access to Highway 111 from Burnside Drive was shut down for the morning rush hour Friday after a pedestrian was struck near the intersection with Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth.

Halifax Regional Police said they were called to the area at 6:30 a.m. to a report of an injured person and found a 55-year-old man on the road. He was rushed to hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening.

“There is no access to Highway 111 from Burnside Drive and traffic is being redirected,” police said in a news release. “We are asking the public to take alternate routes to avoid delays.”

Police cleared the scene before 10:30 a.m. and the roads were reopened.
