Three adults, one teen charged after assault on youth at Bedford school in October

BEDFORD, N.S. — Three adults and a teen have been charged in connection with an assault on a youth at Rocky Lake Junior. High in Bedford last fall.

Just before 1 p.m. on Oct. 19, Halifax Regional Police were called to a disturbance at the school on 670 Rocky Lake Rd., after a youth had allegedly been assaulted with a rock by another youth they knew..

As the victim fled to the lobby, police said, a vehicle with four adults, all known to the suspect, pulled into the school’s parking lot “at a high rate of speed.”

Joined by the assailant and other youths, the adults reportedly entered the school to confront and assault the victim again.

One of the adults allegedly threatened school staff who were trying to intervene.

Police eventually removed the suspects from the school and the investigation led to charges filed Thursday.

A 17-year-old has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and assault.

A 38-year-old man is charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, assault, uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death, mischief and causing a disturbance.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with assault, causing a disturbance and mischief.

A 36-year-old woman has been charged with mischief and causing a disturbance.

“We are working closely with school officials and the incident remains under investigation at this time,” police said in a release.
