A dozen Congressional members expected to join transgender activists descending on National Mall

The Trans Day of Visibility Rally is set to take place on the National Mall on Monday afternoon, with organizers sending a clear message to the Trump administration that they are here to stay. A flyer from the organizers emphasizes their determination, stating, “We’re not going anywhere.”
A dozen congressional lawmakers are expected to make an appearance at the rally, showing their support for the transgender community in the face of ongoing attacks.
The rally, organized in response to what organizers describe as “relentless attacks from the Trump administration on the transgender community,” is part of a series of large-scale protests and marches planned for Trans Day of Visibility on March 31. This day was officially designated by former President Biden annually beginning in 2021.
The event is being organized by the Christopher Street Project, a nonprofit organization with a PAC focused on electing “champions for the transgender community.” It has garnered support from a dozen other organizations as well.
As tensions surrounding transgender issues continue to escalate in U.S. politics and the culture war, the mood for this year’s Trans Day of Visibility has shifted from a celebration to a protest against President Donald Trump’s gender-related executive orders.
Trump has signed a series of executive orders aimed at limiting the influence of gender ideology in federal policies and education. These orders include measures such as “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” and establishing a binary definition of sex as male and female, determined at conception.
In response to these developments, several blue cities across the country have hosted rallies and festivals leading up to Trans Visibility Day. These events have offered legal assistance, workshops on rights, political education classes, survival skills, and self-defense sessions.
The National Mall rally is scheduled to take place from 4 to 6 p.m. ET, providing a platform for the transgender community and their allies to come together and make their voices heard.
As the conversation around transgender rights continues to evolve, it is crucial for all voices to be heard and for the community to stand together in solidarity. The Trans Day of Visibility Rally serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of the transgender community in the face of adversity.
