Doctor charges with sexual violence in Cumberland County

Cumberland County District RCMP Investigates Sexual Assault by Doctor

The Cumberland County District RCMP has charged a doctor with sexual assault and believe there may be additional victims.

According to reports, the police responded to a complaint in May regarding a sexual assault involving a doctor at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center (CRHCC) in Upper Nappan.

The incident allegedly occurred in January during a medical examination at the CRHCC.

Dr. Sanjeev Sirpal was arrested on August 14 and charged with sexual assault. He has been released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on November 15 at the provincial court in Amherst.

Authorities suspect that there may be more victims in Nova Scotia or other locations where Sirpal has practiced, including Quebec and New Brunswick, where he is currently employed.

The Cumberland County District RCMP is urging any potential victims to come forward and contact the local authorities.
