Investigation continues 24 years after Jason MacCullough homicide in Dartmouth
HALIFAX, N.S. — Halifax police are continuing to investigate the killing of 19-year-old Jason MacCullough 24 years after his death.
MacCullough’s body was found on a paved path between 100 and 104 Pinecrest Dr. in Dartmouth at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999.
Investigators believe MacCullough was taking a shortcut between the buildings when walking home. Police also believe MacCullough’s death was a random act, as there was no indication that he was involved in criminal activity.
Police said it is likely there were several people in the area at the time who witnessed MacCullough’s killing.
They urge witnesses to share any information they remember with investigators, no matter how small the detail.
“It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation,” Halifax Regional Police said in a release.
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.
The Nova Scotia Justice Department is offering a cash reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the crime. Those with information are asked to call the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes program at 1-888-710-9090.
People calling with information must give their name and contact information and might be called to testify in court.
