NBA players Rudy Gobert, Mouhamed Gueye nearly hit by falling debris during game

Minnesota Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert and Atlanta Hawks big man Mouhamed Gueye had a close call on Monday night at the Target Center in Minneapolis. As the two players were walking off the court at the end of the first quarter, a piece of debris fell from the jumbotron high above the court. Gobert felt the piece drop past his head, causing his teammates to react in shock.
Fortunately, neither player was injured in the incident. Gobert later addressed the scary moment, saying, “It (happened) right in front of me. I don’t know if that’s good or bad.”
Despite the scare, the Timberwolves were able to maintain their lead and secure a 100-92 victory over the Hawks. Gobert put up an impressive performance with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks. Anthony Edwards led the team with 23 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
On the other side, Gueye contributed four points and four rebounds in 19 minutes of play for the Hawks. De’Andre Hunter had a standout performance off the bench with 35 points, while Clint Capela added 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Following the game, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance in the second half. Despite the win, he emphasized the need for improvement, stating, “That was a totally unacceptable second half of basketball. If we’re trying to be a team, we’re trying to go where we’re trying to go, that’s not good enough.”
With the victory, Minnesota improved to a 25-20 record, although they have struggled with a 12-10 record at home. Meanwhile, Atlanta fell to 22-24 overall and 11-14 on the road.
Overall, it was a dramatic night at the Target Center, with Gobert and Gueye narrowly avoiding a serious injury. The game showcased the resilience and determination of both teams, highlighting the unpredictable nature of professional basketball.
