A teenager is currently in intensive care after a horrific diving accident at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. The incident occurred on a hot Monday afternoon when 19-year-old Aiden Sloan was playing in the water with his cousins. According to Hampton Beach Fire Chief Michael McMahon, Sloan was diving into the waves when he hit a sandbar head-on, causing severe injuries.

Sloan’s mother, Melina Burton, shared the details of the accident with Fox News Digital, recounting the moment she received the news about her son’s injuries. Sloan’s cousins quickly realized that something was wrong and pulled him to the beach when they noticed he wasn’t breathing. Thanks to their quick actions, Sloan’s life was saved.

Burton expressed her gratitude towards the cousins for rescuing her son, stating, “I will forever be grateful.” McMahon also mentioned that incidents like this are rare but unfortunately do happen, emphasizing the importance of beach safety.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Sloan, describing his injuries as a broken neck. His employer, Greenleaf Milford, is supporting him by donating a portion of sales to his medical expenses.

Sloan, who works as a chef at a restaurant inside the Nash Casino, is facing a long road to recovery. Despite the challenges ahead, Burton remains hopeful for her son’s prognosis. Sloan is expected to remain in the hospital for several weeks before transitioning to a rehab facility.

Burton shared that Sloan is struggling emotionally, as he is typically a cheerful and positive person. She expressed how heartbreaking it is to see him feeling defeated and hopeless, but remains optimistic about his recovery. The doctors have mentioned that Sloan’s youth and strength are in his favor, providing hope for a positive outcome.
