B-2 stealth bombers possibly carrying bunker-busters appear to head toward Guam

Six B-2 stealth bombers from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri are currently en route to a U.S. Air Force base in Guam, as indicated by flight tracking data and voice communications with air traffic control. These bombers appear to have refueled after launching from Missouri, suggesting that they took off with a heavy payload, possibly including bunker-buster bombs.
The B-2 stealth bomber is capable of carrying a two-ton bunker-buster bomb, a weapon that only the U.S. possesses. This type of bomb could play a crucial role in targeting Iran’s most heavily fortified nuclear site, Fordow. Mark Dubowitz, CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, stated that destroying Fordow from the air is a task that only the U.S. can accomplish.
Jonathan Ruhe, Director of Foreign Policy for JINSA, explained that bunker-buster bombs are designed to penetrate through layers of earth, rock, and concrete before exploding underground. The resulting explosion could either completely destroy the target or collapse the structure around it without obliterating it.
The potential deployment of these B-2 bombers comes at a time of heightened tensions between the U.S., Israel, and Iran. President Trump is expected to make a decision regarding U.S. involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict, with intelligence briefings scheduled for the weekend. Recent disagreements between the president and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities have added to the complexity of the situation.
While the U.S. has not taken direct military action in the conflict, sanctions were recently imposed on entities and individuals involved in procuring sensitive machinery for Iran’s defense industry. The State Department announced these sanctions despite initial distance between the U.S. and Israel on the issue.
As the situation continues to evolve, the deployment of B-2 stealth bombers to Guam raises the stakes in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict. The unique capabilities of these aircraft could play a critical role in addressing the threats posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
