Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, sparked controversy with her social media posts following the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over the weekend.
The shooting took place at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C., where gunman Cole Tomas Allen of California breached a security checkpoint armed with guns and knives. Fortunately, a Secret Service agent was shot but saved by his bulletproof vest.
The Justice Department has charged Allen with attempting to assassinate the president, transporting firearms across state lines with intent to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a violent crime.

President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials were present at the event, along with members of Congress and the media. Following the incident, Crockett made several posts, with some denouncing political violence and others questioning the authenticity of assassination attempts against Trump.
On her official accounts, Crockett expressed, “Political violence is unacceptable and must stop.” She also expressed gratitude for the safety of all attendees at the WHCD.

However, on her campaign Threads account, Crockett raised doubts about the frequency of assassination attempts on a president’s life and suggested various reasons behind such incidents.
Response and Calls for Action
Fox News Digital reached out to Crockett’s office for comment, and inquiries were made to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., for a statement.
Following the shooting, Trump and administration officials advocated for the construction of a White House ballroom, citing the incident as a reason for enhanced security measures.

However, it is important to note that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was organized by the White House Correspondents’ Association and not the White House itself. Moreover, the proposed ballroom’s capacity falls short of accommodating the number of guests at the WHCD.
A judge has halted the construction of the White House ballroom multiple times, citing the lack of congressional approval, except for actions necessary for the safety and security of the White House and its premises.
