2 Ford Mustangs totaling nearly $200K stolen from Upson County dealership

Thieves Steal Rare Ford Mustangs Worth Nearly $200,000 from Thomaston Dealership
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Thomaston police are currently investigating a daring heist at the Southern Ford of Thomaston dealership, where thieves made off with two high-value Ford Mustang cars totaling close to $200,000.
The stolen vehicles, a Ford Mustang GT500 Heritage and a blue Ford Mustang GT500, were taken overnight on Friday, leaving dealership staff shocked and frustrated by the brazen theft.
General Manager Chip Richardson expressed his dismay, stating, “It’s really a special car, we are one of the lucky dealers that have it. The Heritage was a numbered car; less than a thousand of them were built and everything was certified on it.”
Thomaston Police revealed that the thieves not only made off with the cars but also managed to steal keys to a majority of the vehicles on the lot after breaking into the showroom.
Chief Mike Richardson speculated, “I don’t think this was someone coming to do a joyride, they knew what they were looking for. And I don’t think these are going to be chopped up anywhere, they’re heading somewhere.”
In a bold move, the thieves disabled the security cameras, hampering the investigation efforts of law enforcement.
The incident has left the dealership staff disheartened, with Chip Richardson lamenting, “We’re a small country town and normally nothing happens.”
Thomaston Police are urging anyone with information regarding the theft to come forward and assist in their investigation. A reward of $1,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest in the case.
