Tragedy struck the Marquette Golden Eagles men’s lacrosse team as two players, Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud, were killed in a car crash near the university’s main campus in Milwaukee on Friday night.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by Marquette president Kimo Ah Yun, who urged the community to keep the families of Snyder and Michaud in their prayers. Both young men were valued members of the lacrosse team and their loss has deeply affected their teammates, coaches, and the entire Marquette community.

Snyder, 20, was an attackman and a sophomore studying business administration from Irving, New York. Michaud, 19, played as a goalie and was a sophomore majoring in biomedical sciences from Springboro, Ohio. Despite their athletic commitments, both Snyder and Michaud excelled academically and were recognized on the Big East Conference’s All-Academic Team for maintaining a 3.0 GPA.

The fatal crash occurred when a 41-year-old driver collided with the vehicle carrying the six lacrosse team members. Tragically, Snyder and Michaud were pronounced dead at the scene, while the other four occupants were treated for injuries at the scene or in nearby hospitals.

The driver involved in the crash has not been identified yet, and police have stated that an investigation is ongoing with potential criminal charges pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud, as well as the entire Marquette University community as they mourn the loss of two promising young student-athletes.
