2022 East Preston homicide added to N.S. unsolved crimes rewards program

The Nova Scotia government has recently added another name to its list of unsolved homicides and is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible. Oren Edward Williams was found dead at the end of a driveway on Brian Street in East Preston, Nova Scotia.

On August 14, 2022, police received a report of a suspicious death on Brian Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Oren Edward Williams, aged 38, on the side of the road at the end of a driveway. The RCMP is currently investigating Williams’ death as a homicide and is urging anyone with information to come forward.

In an obituary posted following his death, Williams was remembered as a member of the East Preston United Baptist Church who had a passion for music, particularly playing the drums. This tragic incident has now been added to the province’s major unsolved crimes program, bringing the total number of active cases to 121.

In order to be eligible for the reward offered through the program, individuals providing information must be willing to testify in court, and their testimony must ultimately lead to a conviction. The amount of the reward is contingent on the value of the information provided to investigators.
