2025 will welcome newest generation of kids, Gen Beta
Babies born in the year 2025 will usher in a new generation known as Generation Beta. Following Generation Alpha (2010 to 2024), Gen Beta will be comprised of children born between 2025 and 2039. According to the Australian research firm McCrindle, Gen Beta is projected to make up 16% of the world’s population by 2035, with many members of this generation expected to live well into the 22nd century.
Mark McCrindle, a demographer and futurist leading the research and analysis group, described Gen Beta as a pivotal chapter in our evolving world. This generation will face a multitude of rapidly changing global factors such as evolving technology, societal challenges, sustainability, and climate change. The upbringing of Gen Beta children, who will mainly be the offspring of younger millennials and older Gen Zers, will prioritize adaptability, equality, and eco-consciousness.
Gen Beta is expected to be more globally minded, community-focused, and collaborative than any generation before them. They will be raised with an emphasis on innovation not just for convenience, but for solving the pressing challenges of their time. As artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent and access to technology continues to increase, Gen Beta’s digital and physical worlds will seamlessly blend together.
McCrindle predicted that Gen Beta will likely be the first generation to experience autonomous transportation on a large scale, as well as wearable health technologies and immersive virtual environments as standard aspects of daily life. The formative years of Gen Beta children will be marked by a greater emphasis on personalization, with AI algorithms tailoring their learning, shopping, and social interactions.
Parents of Gen Beta children will play a crucial role in shaping the future of this generation. While technology is seen as a valuable learning tool, parents must also be mindful of the risks of overexposure. Educational psychologist Dr. Michele Borba emphasized the importance of recognizing the changes happening in the world and raising strong, adaptable children who can thrive in a new environment.
Borba stressed the significance of teaching critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills to Gen Beta kids, as these will be impacted by advancements in AI. She advised parents to remain calm during uncertain times, as children will mirror their response. Social interaction is also crucial for the well-being of children, especially if they do not have siblings.
In a world where technology is rapidly advancing, parents must teach their children social skills to balance a reliance on growing technology. By nurturing their strengths and understanding what drives them from an early age, parents can help Gen Beta children navigate the challenges of their generation. As we welcome Generation Beta, it is essential to prepare them for a future that will be shaped by innovation, collaboration, and adaptability.
