Seasonique birth control pills from Teva Canada recalled due to extra yellow tablets

Health Canada Issues Recall for Seasonique Birth Control Products
Health Canada has issued a recall notice for certain Seasonique birth control products manufactured by Teva Canada. The recall is due to some packages containing extraneous yellow tablets along with the correct blue-green pills.
The affected Seasonique pills include 0.01-milligram ethinyl estradiol, 0.03-milligram ethinyl estradiol, and 0.15-milligram levonorgestrel. Health Canada advises individuals who find the yellow pills in their packages not to consume them and to return the product to a pharmacy for a replacement or alternative. For those unable to return the pills immediately, it is recommended to continue taking the regular blue-green tablets as instructed until they can be returned.
If individuals have mistakenly taken a yellow pill instead of a blue-green pill or are unsure, Health Canada advises using an additional method of non-hormonal backup contraception, such as condoms, and consulting with a healthcare professional.
This recall is the latest in a series by Teva Canada. In a previous instance, the company recalled its Seasonale pills (0.15-milligram levonorgestrel and 0.03-milligram ethinyl estradiol) due to white placebo pills being found among the regular pink tablets. Additionally, in May, Teva Canada had to recall the same Seasonique tablets due to complaints of missing pills in the packages.
It is crucial for individuals using Seasonique birth control products to check their packages carefully and follow Health Canada’s guidelines in response to the recall to ensure their safety and proper contraceptive effectiveness.
