Grand Prix in Montreal: First practice aborted due to camera problem

The first practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix had barely started when it was cut short due to problems with local security cameras around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The FIA announced that the local security cameras around the track had not synchronized correctly and that the session could not be resumed for safety reasons until the problem was rectified.
The session had already been postponed once before when Alpine driver Pierre Gasly raised a red flag after his car stalled after a few corners due to a driveshaft problem.
Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas finished with the fastest lap of the first session, which lasted less than 10 minutes.
Bottas completed a lap of one minute and 18.728 seconds ahead of Montreal’s Lance Stroll in 0.477 and Fernando Alonso in 1.079.
As a result of the delay, the FIA announced that the second practice session due to take place later on Friday afternoon would be extended by 30 minutes.
Another practice will take place on Saturday before qualifying, which will determine the starting order for Sunday’s race.
