Doctors Nova Scotia reaches preliminary agreements with provincial government

HALIFAX, NS — After five months of negotiations, Doctors Nova Scotia and the provincial government have reached tentative agreement on new four-year contracts.

Doctors will vote on the provisional agreements between July 7 and July 20.

Details of the contracts will be released after the agreements are ratified. The results will be announced on July 20.

Dr. Colin Audain, president of Doctors Nova Scotia, said the association achieved the best possible deals for the province’s doctors while ensuring the best care for Nova Scotia.

“These contracts, if ratified, will help stabilize some of the most critical services in our province,” Audain said.

The agreements will affect more than 3,400 doctors, the association said.

If ratified, the contracts will replace the 2019 agreements, which expired on March 31.
