Auto sales continue to rise in June, up 12.6 percent from last year: DesRosiers

RICHMOND HILL, Ont. – DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. says June was another strong month for auto sales.

The consulting firm says total light vehicle sales for the month were 12.6 percent higher than a year ago.

Sales totaled 161,901 units in June, up 1.38 percent from May, marking eight consecutive months of year-over-year gains.

Andrew King, managing partner of DesRosiers, said in a statement that the season-adjusted annual figure for June was 1.64 million in June, compared to 1.54 million in May and the highest level since February.

The company says sales reached about 813,000 units this year, up from 756,000 in the first half of 2022, but less than 1.04 million in the same period in 2018.

General Motors led sales in the first half of 2023 with 127,561 units, up 15.7 percent from a year earlier.
