What is the historical significance of Calgary Stampede?
The first Calgary Stampede was held in 1886. The Calgary District and Agricultural Society sponsored its first agricultural exhibition.
However, there was virtually nothing in Calgary at the time. It had a CPR station, a Northwest Mounted Police post and about a thousand residents.
This exhibition was therefore an opportunity to disseminate information about agricultural practices in the West.
In addition, individuals can have fun and showcase the best of the West.
Gradually, this exhibition became an annual event and more and more people came to see it.
