Man charged with aggravated assault after stabbing in Amherst

AMHERST, NS — A man will appear in Amherst County Court Monday on three charges, including aggravated assault, of a stabbing in the city on Friday night.

According to an Amherst Police Department press release, officers responded to a downtown address shortly before midnight, where a man had been stabbed with a knife.

The 33-year-old victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by police for treatment.

The suspect was arrested on the spot. Jerome Andrew Zeltner, 22, of Amherst, is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.
