21-year-old woman dead after car crash in Cape Breton

A woman from Chapel Island, N.S., died in a single-vehicle car crash in Richmond County, according to the RCMP.

Driver was lone occupant when sedan went off Highway 104 near Lower River Inhabitants

A 21-year-old woman from Chapel Island, N.S., is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 104 in Richmond County, Cape Breton, according the the RCMP. 

Police say a Chevy Cobalt left the road around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, near the community of Lower River Inhabitants.

The driver and lone occupant was ejected from the car and found dead at the scene.

RCMP say the crash is under investigation and according to evidence at the scene, alcohol may have been a factor.

The highway was closed for several hours while a police collision reconstructionist examined the scene. It has since reopened.
