2 charged following car crash, stabbing in Springhill

Two people have been charged in Springhill after a car crash resulted in a stabbing on Monday morning.

Two people from Springhill, N.S., are facing multiple charges after a car crash and stabbing on Monday morning. 

Cumberland County District RCMP were called to McGee Street in Springhill early Monday after a vehicle struck a parked car and the passengers attempted to leave the scene. 

According to a media release, a 50-year old man from Springhill who witnessed the collision tried to stop the passengers from leaving and was subsequently stabbed. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police say.

RCMP were unable to locate the two suspects at first, but arrested a 31-year old woman on Tuesday.

A 22-year-old man was located and arrested later Tuesday.

The man remains in custody and is facing three charges that include assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He is due in Amherst provincial court on June 18. 

The woman was released on conditions and is facing two charges for failing to stop after an accident and possession of property obtained by crime. She will be back in court in August.
