US Election 2024

Majority of Americans believe Biden will be remembered as below average or poor president: poll

Americans are divided on President Biden’s legacy, with a new poll from Gallup revealing that 54% of Americans believe he will be remembered as a below-average or poor president. Only 19% of respondents believe he will have a positive legacy, with just 6% saying he will be remembered as outstanding.

Gallup’s poll compared Biden to nine other recent presidents, with only President Richard Nixon receiving a lower net positivity rating than Biden. Nixon received a -42 rating, compared to Biden’s -35. The most popular presidents were John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan, with ratings of +68 and +38, respectively.

Despite these ratings, presidents who serve challenging terms like Biden typically see their approval ratings rise in the years after they leave office. Previous presidents like Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump all benefited from this trend.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Biden acknowledged concerns about his age and discussed his legacy. He admitted that he wasn’t sure if he could have lasted another four years in office, but still claimed he would have defeated Trump if he had run for re-election. Biden expressed hope that history would remember him for his efforts to restore the economy and reestablish America’s leadership in the world.

The White House declined to comment on the poll when contacted by Fox News Digital. If you want to continue reading this content and stay informed on the latest news, log in or create a free account on Fox News’ website. By doing so, you agree to their Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
