‘Waste less, save more’: DOGE caucus member rolls out expansive bill package ahead of Trump inauguration

Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., is taking action to advance the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) mission as President-elect Donald Trump prepares to enter office. Lankford is introducing six new bills aimed at improving government operations, reducing waste, and increasing transparency within federal agencies.

One of the key bills proposed by Lankford is the “Improving Federal Financial Management Act,” which seeks to evaluate agencies’ performances based on financial metrics and hold them accountable for their fiscal responsibilities. Another bill, the “TRUE Accountability Act,” would require agencies to develop crisis management plans to ensure operational continuity in the event of emergencies.

In addition, Lankford is introducing the “ACCESS Act,” which aims to eliminate minimum education requirements for government contractor personnel during federal contract negotiations. These bills are part of a larger effort by Lankford and other GOP senators to support the DOGE initiative and promote efficiency in government operations.

The DOGE caucus, led by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, is actively working to address inefficiencies within federal agencies, with a focus on telework policies and internal crisis management strategies. Republicans are eager to introduce legislation before Trump’s inauguration to jumpstart the process of implementing new policies under the incoming administration.

Overall, Lankford’s bills and the efforts of the DOGE caucus reflect a commitment to streamlining government operations, reducing waste, and promoting accountability within federal agencies. As Trump prepares to take office, these initiatives are poised to make a significant impact on government efficiency and transparency.
