A look at where investigations into Joe Biden stand

The House Oversight Committee’s investigation into former President Joe Biden’s mental decline continues to gain momentum as key witnesses testify and subpoenas are issued to those who refuse to voluntarily appear. The investigation is focusing on an alleged cover-up of Biden’s mental acuity decline during his time in office, with questions arising about who was really in charge in the White House amid the former president’s obvious decline.

Neera Tanden, former President Biden’s staff secretary, testified before the committee and revealed that she had minimal interaction with Biden despite wielding significant authority. She explained that she would send decision memos to members of Biden’s inner circle to obtain approval for autopen signatures, but had no visibility into what occurred between sending the memo and receiving it back with approval. This testimony raised serious questions about who was truly calling the shots in the Biden White House.

Former special assistant to Biden and Deputy Director of Oval Office Operations, Ashley Williams, and Biden’s deputy chief of staff, Annie Tomasini, are scheduled to testify in the coming weeks. However, Biden’s former White House doctor, Kevin O’Connor, declined an invitation to participate in a transcribed interview and has been subpoenaed by the committee.

The Senate Judiciary Committee also held a hearing on the issue, titled “Unfit to Serve: How the Biden Cover-up Endangered America and Undermined the Constitution.” Expert testimony was given by individuals including University of Virginia law professor John Harrison and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer. The hearing highlighted concerns about the alleged cover-up of Biden’s declining health being labeled a “constitutional crisis.”

Additionally, the Justice Department is reviewing the list of pardons granted by Biden during his final weeks in office. Concerns have been raised about the use of an autopen to automatically sign documents, particularly in the case of the pardon granted to Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. Hunter was found guilty of felony gun offenses and faced federal tax charges related to alleged tax evasion.

As these investigations into Biden’s mental decline and actions while in office continue, the focus remains on ensuring transparency and accountability in government. The testimony of key witnesses and the review of pardons granted by Biden are shedding light on potential issues that need to be addressed moving forward.
