A man arrested after gunshots were fired at an RCMP officer in New Brunswick

FLORENCEVILLE-BRISTOL, NB — The RCMP says one person has been arrested after an officer was shot at in western New Brunswick early this morning.

According to a press release, an officer was patrolling the Centerville area, about three miles east of the Maine border, and attempted to pull over three off-road vehicles on Route 105 around 2:30 a.m.

According to the release, the ATV operators refused to stop, turned into a side road and fired several gunshots at the officer’s vehicle.

The officer returned fire and the ATVs fled.

The release says the officer was not injured and no injuries were reported to police in connection with the gunfire.

Later in the morning, one arrest has been made in the area in connection with the incident and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them.
