Aaron Rodgers would succeed in politics because he refused to get COVID vaccine, former NFL rival says

Former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher recently offered his political analysis of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as a potential candidate for public office during an interview on “Jesse Watters Primetime.” Urlacher, who played against Rodgers twice a year from 2008 to 2012, believes that Rodgers’ refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine could make him a viable candidate in the future.

Urlacher commended Rodgers for standing up for individuals who chose not to get vaccinated, despite facing backlash and criticism from the media and the NFL. He noted that many NFL players did not have a choice when it came to getting the vaccine, and Rodgers’ decision to speak out in support of those who opted not to receive the shot resonated with many.

In November 2021, Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and had to miss several games for the Packers. It was then revealed that Rodgers had previously stated he was “immunized” when asked about his vaccination status during training camp. The NFL fined the Packers and issued fines to Rodgers for violating league and players’ union protocols.

Despite the controversy surrounding his vaccination status, Rodgers maintained his stance and clarified that he used the term “immunized” to refer to a homeopathic treatment regimen, not a vaccine. He cited allergies and concerns about potential adverse reactions as reasons for not getting vaccinated.

During an interview on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers apologized for any confusion his comments may have caused but reiterated his decision not to get vaccinated. He emphasized that he is an athlete, not an activist, and that he made an informed decision based on what he felt was best for his body.

Urlacher believes that Rodgers’ willingness to stand by his beliefs, even in the face of criticism, could make him a strong candidate for public office in the future. Despite their on-field rivalry, Urlacher and Rodgers share similar views on several political issues, and Urlacher sees potential in Rodgers as a leader who is unafraid to speak out for what he believes in.

As Rodgers continues to excel on the football field, his actions off the field, including his stance on the COVID-19 vaccine, have sparked discussions about his potential for a future in politics. Only time will tell if Rodgers decides to pursue a career in public service, but Urlacher’s endorsement suggests that he may have the qualities needed to succeed in such a role.
