Accounts, cook end contract distance of the contract by agreeing with the deal of four years

After achieving a large payment day and a four -year -old deal to stay with the Buffalo Bills, James Cook could not hide his satisfaction.

The fourth -year player grinned on Wednesday during the training after the termination of his contract preparation.

“You would,” said a smiling cook.

The Cook deal pays him US $ 48 million for the four years, two people with knowledge of the agreement confirmed to the Associated Press. The contract includes US $ 30 million in guaranteed money, one of the people said.

They spoke with the AP on condition of anonymity because financial details of the contract have not been announced.

“Good to be back and play with my team,” said Cook. “Just get another chance to do what I like to do.”

The new deal comes one day after Cook ended his one -week stalemate by returning to the exercise. He skipped four consecutive sessions and although he participated in warm-ups, he refused to play against the New York Giants in Buffalo’s pre-season opener on Saturday.

“I think we just had insight into that we should practice when we can come to the table again,” said Brandon Beane, Managing Director, and noticed that the emphasis was on getting a deal as soon as Cook returned to practice Tuesday. “There was good faith in both parts, from him and his agent, on our side.”

Cook was the co-leader of the NFL with 16 touchdowns who rushed last season. His 18 touchdowns, including two received, doubled his combined production in his first two seasons (four TDs hurry, five received). And he was part of an attack that finished second in the competition with an average of more than 30 points per outing.

Cook was selected by Buffalo in the second round of the 2022 design from Georgia. His older brother is Dalvin Cook, best known for his six seasons in Minnesota and who appeared in two games with Dallas last year.

Until Wednesday, Cook turned out to be the strange man in Beane’s outdoor season of the signing of core players for multi-year contract extensions. The group consisted of Quarterback Josh Allen, receiver Khalil Shakir, Edge Rusher Greg Rousseau, Linebacker Terrel Bernard and Cornerback Christian Benford.

“These are boys who are all players we have expanded this season, which I think they are all rising talents in this competition,” said Beane.

Cook said “it’s special” to join colleague members of the design class 2022 – Shakir, Bernard and Benford – when signing extensions with the accounts.

“The boys who came in with me, we were all rewarded,” said Cook. “Now it’s time for us to play football and show why we belong here.”

After fully practicing during the first eight sessions of the Bills of the Training Camp this year, Cook started on 3 August with his “content” by looking at practicing with a white sweat suit along the sidelines.

“Just try to protect myself,” said Cook. “Just try to stay healthy and get everything done before I can get there and play with a clear mindset and just locked up.”

Cook also refused to participate in the voluntary spring sessions of the Bills before reporting and practicing in June in the team’s three -day mini -day mini -day. He said that the reason behind his decision to report did not want to risk a fine.

At the start of the training camp, Cook expressed the confidence that his contract status would ultimately be resolved.

“No matter how it happens, it will be done, wherever it happens,” he said. “I earn what I want, what I need, and it will eventually happen.”

How long was Cook prepared to sit outside of practice and games to secure his new deal?

“No matter how long it took,” said Cook, another smile flashing. “But we did it. So we don’t have to discuss that. And let’s play football.”
