Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, best known for her roles in popular millennial-era TV shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, has tragically passed away at the age of 39, as confirmed by the New York City police on Wednesday.

Authorities found Trachtenberg unresponsive at 1 Columbus Place, a luxury apartment tower in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, following a 911 call early in the morning. Despite efforts to revive her, she was pronounced deceased at the scene. The police have stated that her death is not considered suspicious, and the investigation is ongoing, with the cause of death to be determined by the Medical Examiner.

A representative for Trachtenberg, Gary Mantoosh, released a statement requesting privacy for the family during this difficult time.

Trachtenberg’s career took off at a young age when she starred as the lead character in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy. She later gained recognition for her roles in film adaptations like Inspector Gadget and her portrayal of Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 2000 to 2003.

In recent years, Trachtenberg sparked concern among fans due to a noticeable change in her appearance, which she addressed on social media, denying rumors of plastic surgery and asserting that she was healthy and happy.

Throughout her career, Trachtenberg showcased her versatility by taking on a variety of roles, from playing the scheming Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl to hosting Discovery’s Truth or Scare, for which she received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2001. She also made an impact with her portrayal of the wife of Lee Harvey Oswald in Killing Kennedy, showcasing her talent by speaking Russian for 80% of her dialogue in the film.
