American hostage Edan Alexander to be released, Hamas claims

Hamas has announced that American hostage Edan Alexander will be released soon. Alexander, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, has been held captive in Gaza since the October 7 Hamas attack on southern Israel.
According to a statement from Hamas, the terror organization has been in contact with the U.S. administration in recent days to work towards a ceasefire. The statement expressed a high level of positivity and confirmed that Alexander would be released as part of the steps being taken towards a ceasefire, the opening of border crossings, and the entry of aid and relief for the people in the Gaza Strip.
It is still uncertain when Alexander will be released, but efforts are underway to secure his freedom. Raised in Tenafly, New Jersey, Alexander moved to Israel at 18 to volunteer for military service in the IDF’s Golani Brigade. He lived with his grandparents in Tel Aviv and at Kibbutz Hazor, where he was part of a group of lone soldiers.
On the morning of October 7, Alexander was kidnapped despite not being required to remain on base that day. His mother was visiting from abroad, and as a lone soldier, he had the option to go home for the weekend. However, he chose to stay and support his comrades on guard duty.
As the situation unfolds, the world is hopeful for Alexander’s safe return. The news of his impending release brings relief to his family and loved ones who have been eagerly awaiting his freedom.
