Americans bullish on economy and stock market with Trump in office: poll

After President Donald Trump returned to office, Americans are feeling optimistic about the country’s economic outlook. According to a recent Gallup poll, a majority of Americans believe that the economy will grow in the next six months, with 53% expressing confidence in economic growth and 61% expecting the stock market to rise.

The survey, conducted between Jan. 2 and 15, captured the renewed optimism among Americans following Trump’s return to the White House. While respondents were divided on the issue of unemployment, with 38% anticipating an increase and 38% expecting a decrease, there was a general sense of positivity regarding economic growth.

Despite concerns about inflation, with 52% expecting it to rise in the next six months, the figure has decreased significantly from previous polls. The increase in economic optimism was largely fueled by Republican respondents, with 78% believing in economic growth and 75% expecting a rise in the stock market.

Independents also shared a similar sentiment, with 61% anticipating economic growth and 60% expecting the stock market to rise. Democrats, on the other hand, were less bullish, with only 21% believing in economic growth but a slim majority of 51% anticipating a bump in the stock market.

Gallup noted that part of the optimism could be attributed to Republicans expecting improvements under a Republican president like Trump. The confidence in Trump’s ability to handle the economy was also a significant factor, as he received strong approval ratings on economic issues during his first term.

The poll, which surveyed 1,005 adults in the U.S., has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus four percentage points. Overall, Americans are hopeful about the economy in the next six months, reflecting their confidence in Trump’s economic policies and outlook.
