Angel Reese nearly posts triple-double in Sky’s win over Sparks

The Chicago Sky emerged victorious in a thrilling game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, with Angel Reese playing a pivotal role in the team’s 92-85 win. Reese put on a stellar performance on both ends of the court, almost achieving a triple-double with 24 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists in 38 minutes of play.

Reese, who was leading the WNBA in rebounds with an average of 12.3 per game, continued her dominant streak by grabbing at least 16 rebounds for the fourth consecutive game. This impressive display also marked her fourth consecutive double-double and her 36th in just 50 career games.

The game saw Reese achieve a season-high of 24 points, shooting 10-of-19 from the field and making all four of her free throw attempts. Defensively, she contributed with two blocks and one steal for the Sky.

However, Reese wasn’t the only standout player for Chicago. Guard Ariel Atkins scored 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while Rachel Banham added 13 points and four assists, and Elizabeth Williams chipped in with 12 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.

Off the bench, Kia Nurse made an impact with 14 points, including three three-pointers. On the opposing side, Kelsey Plum led the Sparks with 22 points, going 12-for-12 from the free-throw line but struggling with her field goal shooting.

Dearica Hamby recorded a double-double for the Sparks with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Azura Stevens contributed 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Overall, it was a high-scoring and intense game between the two teams, with both sides showcasing their talent and determination on the court.
