Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Reach Divorce Settlement

After one of the longest and most contentious divorces in Hollywood history, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally reached a divorce settlement. The former power couple signed off on a default declaration filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, indicating that they have come to an agreement on their marital and property rights. This settlement marks a significant step in resolving their legal issues, although some matters between the two still remain unresolved.

Jolie’s attorney, James Simon, released a statement expressing Jolie’s relief that this part of the process is finally over. The filing states that they have waived the right to any future spousal financial support, but specific details of the settlement have not been disclosed. The agreement will need to be approved by a judge before it is finalized. As of now, there has been no response from Pitt’s attorney regarding the settlement.

The former couple, who were together for 12 years and married for two, share six children. Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce proceedings were marred by allegations of physical abuse and a lengthy custody battle.

In 2019, a judge declared Jolie and Pitt divorced and single, but the division of assets and custody arrangements for their children needed to be settled separately. The process was further complicated by a dispute over the sale of a French winery that the couple co-owned.

Despite the public nature of their divorce, both Jolie and Pitt have remained tight-lipped about the details surrounding their split. Pitt admitted in a 2017 interview that he had struggled with alcoholism during the time of the divorce but had since sought help and become sober. Jolie, on the other hand, has focused on her career as a filmmaker and actress while raising their children.

The settlement does not impact the ongoing legal battle over the sale of the winery, indicating that the legal wrangling between the two stars may continue. While the details of their divorce have been largely kept private due to the use of a private judge, the resolution of this settlement marks a significant milestone in their separation.

Both Jolie and Pitt have continued to thrive in their respective careers post-divorce, with Pitt winning an Academy Award for his role in “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” and Jolie garnering critical acclaim for her performance in “Maria.” Despite the challenges they have faced in their personal lives, both actors have continued to be prominent figures in Hollywood.
