Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt reach divorce settlement, ending 8-year dispute

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Reach Divorce Settlement

Actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally reached a divorce settlement, putting an end to one of Hollywood’s most talked-about celebrity breakups. Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, confirmed the news to Reuters, stating that this marks the culmination of an eight-year-long process that began when Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, her husband of two years and partner since 2005.

The relationship between Jolie and Pitt, two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, has been under intense media scrutiny for years. The tabloids have been relentless in covering every detail of their personal lives.

Simon expressed Jolie’s relief that this chapter of their separation is finally over. He mentioned that a divorce settlement has been finalized, signed, and submitted to the court. However, the details of the settlement have not been disclosed, and Pitt’s representatives have yet to comment on the matter.

Jolie cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce filing and initially sought full physical custody of their six children, aged eight to 15 at the time. The custody battle that followed was contentious, with both parties accusing each other of manipulating the media coverage in their favor. Ultimately, they agreed on equal custody of their children through a private judge.

Despite the public drama, Jolie has maintained a dignified silence regarding Pitt, refraining from speaking ill of him either publicly or privately. A source close to the actress revealed that the kids had encouraged her to defend herself over the years, but Jolie chose to take the high road.

Before Pitt, Jolie was married to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. On the other hand, Pitt was previously married to actress Jennifer Aniston when he and Jolie starred in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” in 2005. Rumors of an affair surfaced, but Jolie maintained that they were just good friends until Pitt’s marriage to Aniston ended.
