Anti-woke beer company fires back at beer giant for ‘intimidation’ amid trademark dispute

A conservative beer company is standing its ground against beer giant Anheuser-Busch after the company filed a trademark claim against them following a viral incident where the conservative beer company criticized Bud Light’s association with a transgender influencer.

The Conservative Dad beer company released a press release this week, accompanied by a video, stating that Anheuser-Busch has filed a federal trademark opposition with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in an act of corporate revenge against Ultra Right Beer. Anheuser-Busch claims that Ultra Right Beer’s trademark request infringes on the trademark of Michelob Ultra.

Anheuser-Busch argues that it believes it will be damaged by the registration of the mark ULTRA RIGHT, as they have marketed and sold billions of products in the United States under the mark ULTRA and its variants.

The trademark dispute comes two years after Ultra Right Beer’s launch video, where founder Seth Weathers smashed a Bud Light can with a baseball bat, went viral in response to Bud Light’s partnership with a transgender influencer. The partnership caused a social media backlash, leading to a boycott of Bud Light and impacting the brand’s domestic sales.

Weathers, in a statement, accused Anheuser-Busch of trying to crush his business through the trademark objection, stating that it is an act of retaliation for exposing their “woke disaster” with Bud Light. He emphasized that Ultra Right Beer is not just a corporation seeking profit, but a movement of Americans who have had enough.

Anheuser-Busch claims that Ultra Right Beer’s mark is likely to cause confusion among consumers, leading them to believe that Ultra Right Beer’s products are somehow connected or affiliated with Anheuser-Busch’s ULTRA marks, which is not the case.

The press release from Ultra Right Beer highlights Anheuser-Busch’s history of using its resources to suppress opposition and cites an expert’s opinion that the beer giant is unlikely to win the trademark case.

In response to what Ultra Right Beer calls “corporate intimidation,” the company is launching a GiveSendGo campaign to raise funds to fight for its trademark. They also announced a Buy 1, Get 1 Free promotion on Conservative Dad’s Border Wall Tequila, with proceeds supporting the legal battle.

Weathers vowed to fight back against Anheuser-Busch’s attempts to force them into submission through excessive legal fees, stating, “We will Fight! Fight! Fight!”

It is important to note that companies are allowed to continue selling products while trademark applications and disputes are pending. Anheuser-Busch reaffirmed its commitment to protecting and enforcing the trademark rights of its iconic brands.

The ongoing dispute between Ultra Right Beer and Anheuser-Busch highlights the tension between conservative values and corporate retaliation in the beer industry. It remains to be seen how this trademark battle will unfold and what impact it will have on both companies moving forward.
