AOC refuses to say whether Dem rhetoric is responsible for Tesla attacks

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York refused to answer questions about whether she believes Democrats’ inflammatory rhetoric against Elon Musk has any connection to the violent attacks and vandalism against Tesla owners and dealers across the country. Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the progressive group known as the “Squad,” also declined to confirm whether she still owns a Tesla, citing “security reasons.”
Democrats have been critical of Musk for his role leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), with some even going as far as labeling him a “Nazi” and a “threat to democracy.” Ocasio-Cortez has been vocal in her criticisms of Musk, accusing him of being a “leech on the public” and going after vulnerable populations for his own gain.
During a recent rally tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez spoke out against what she called “an extreme concentration of power and corruption” in the country, suggesting that Musk was a part of this problem. When asked by Fox News Digital about the connection between the rhetoric against Musk and the violent incidents targeting Tesla properties, Ocasio-Cortez hesitated to provide a direct answer.
The incidents of vandalism and arson against Tesla vehicles and dealerships have been on the rise, with at least 80 acts of vandalism reported in the U.S. and Canada. The Justice Department has classified these attacks as “domestic terrorism,” and three individuals have been charged with domestic terrorism offenses for using Molotov cocktails to target Tesla properties.
Despite the escalating violence, few Democrats have spoken out against the vandals, and key leaders like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Speaker Nancy Pelosi have remained silent on the issue. Ocasio-Cortez, however, has accused her Republican opponents of engaging in “stochastic terrorism” by using inflammatory language that incites violence.
In a previous interview, Ocasio-Cortez revealed that she has had to hire security due to threats incited by Republican members, which she described as “stochastic terrorism.” She also criticized former President Donald Trump for using his rallies to intimidate his political enemies and incite violence.
The escalating violence against Tesla owners and workers is a concerning trend that needs to be addressed. It is essential for leaders on both sides of the political aisle to condemn these acts of domestic terrorism and work towards a peaceful resolution. As the country continues to grapple with political polarization, it is crucial for elected officials to promote unity and civility in political discourse.
