AOC to launch anti-Trump rallies in NY, PA red districts: report

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent member of “the Squad,” is reportedly gearing up to host anti-Trump rallies in red districts in an effort to rally voters against the current president. According to reports from The Associated Press, Ocasio-Cortez is planning to organize events in red districts across Pennsylvania and New York in a bid to push back against President Donald Trump’s potential second term.
The decision to hold these rallies comes on the heels of Trump’s increased support in New York, where he garnered 43% of the state’s vote in the 2024 election, a notable 6-percentage-point increase from the 37% he received in 2020. Ocasio-Cortez expressed her determination to take the fight directly to the people, stating, “You look around — who else is doing it? No one. My hope is that the dam will break in terms of Democrats going on the offense … We need to take the argument directly to the people.”
In addition to these solo rallies, Ocasio-Cortez is set to join forces with Sen. Bernie Sanders on what is being dubbed the “Stop Oligarchy Tour,” aimed at protesting the president’s policies and agenda. Ocasio-Cortez emphasized the importance of such initiatives, saying, “It’s not about whether Bernie should or shouldn’t be doing this. It’s about that we all should. But he is unique in this country, and so long as we are blessed to have that capacity on our side, I think we should be thankful for it.”
The move to organize these events comes after Ocasio-Cortez urged fellow Democrats to host town halls in Republican-heavy districts to counter Trump’s agenda following his recent address to Congress. She highlighted the need for creative organizing in these districts, asserting, “We need to be creatively organizing in Republican districts. And I don’t want to hear, OK, Republicans don’t listen. They are afraid of this. I’m telling you.”
Specifically calling out districts represented by Reps. Nicole Malliotakis, Mike Lawler, and Jeff Van Drew, Ocasio-Cortez urged Democrats to take action by hosting community town halls and teachings if their Republican representatives fail to do so. The congresswoman emphasized the importance of making their absence known and holding them accountable.
As Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders gear up for these anti-Trump rallies and protests, their efforts are expected to draw significant attention and mobilize voters in key districts. The fight against the current president’s policies and agenda is gaining momentum, with Democrats like Ocasio-Cortez leading the charge. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
