How smart is artificial intelligence? It’s on the cusp of being as smart, or smarter than humans, according to one futurist.
And Elon Musk agrees.

Speaking with Joe Rogan on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Ray Kurzweil said Al will achieve human-level intelligence in the not-so-distant future.
“We’re not quite there, but we will be there, and by 2029 it will match any person,” said Kurzweil, a 76-year-old computer scientist, author and inventor, and Google’s director of engineering.

“I’m actually considered conservative,” the American said. “People think that will happen next year or the year after. I actually said that in 1999. I said we would match any person by 2029. So 30 years, people thought that was totally crazy.
“In fact, Stanford had a conference that invited several hundred people from around the world to talk about my prediction, and people thought that this would happen,” Kurzweil added, “but not by 2029. They thought it would take 100 years.”
Musk, founder of X Corp., Tesla, SpaceX and a wealthy businessman forever interested in making technological waves, was quick to throw his support behind Kurzweil’s comments, reposting the interview clip on X.
“AI will probably be smarter than any single human next year. By 2029, AI is probably smarter than all humans combined,” Musk wrote.
