As Biden admin ends, parents group calls on Congress to designate ‘American Girls in Sports Day’

Parents Defending Education Action (PDE) is taking a stand against the Biden administration’s policies that allow biological males to compete in female sports. After four years of what PDE describes as “appalling” actions, the organization is advocating for Congress to address violence against women in athletics.

Nicole Neily, president of PDE, emphasized the importance of upholding the original intent of Title IX, which was put in place to ensure that women are not disadvantaged because of their sex. She expressed concern over the Biden administration’s reinterpretation of the law, which she believes undermines the rights of female athletes.

In response to these concerns, PDE is calling on Congress to pass a bill and two resolutions introduced by Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn. The “Fair Play for Girls Act” would require the U.S. attorney general to analyze violence against women in sports and recommend policies to protect female athletes. Another resolution urges the NCAA to revoke its policy allowing transgender athletes to compete in sports of the opposite sex.

Additionally, PDE is advocating for Oct. 10 to be recognized as “American Girls in Sports Day” to celebrate the achievements of female athletes. Blackburn’s measures have garnered support from various organizations and individuals, including celebrity sports activist Riley Gaines, Caitlyn Jenner, and the Independent Women’s Forum.

Neily stressed the need for bipartisan support for these measures, which aim to protect vulnerable girls and ensure fair competition in sports. She highlighted the biological differences between men and women, pointing out the potential risks of allowing biological males to compete against females.

The organization believes that these policies are essential to safeguarding the opportunities of female athletes who have worked tirelessly to excel in their respective sports. By advocating for fairness and equality in athletics, PDE hopes to prevent girls from being unfairly disadvantaged by policies that prioritize gender identity over biological sex.

In conclusion, PDE’s efforts to address the challenges facing female athletes and promote equality in sports reflect a commitment to upholding the principles of fairness and justice in athletic competition. Their advocacy for legislative action underscores the importance of protecting the rights and opportunities of female athletes in an increasingly complex and contentious sports landscape.
