Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime has secured a spot in the quarterfinals after a convincing fourth-round victory over Benjamin Bonzi of France at the Cincinnati Open.
Auger-Aliassime showcased his dominant serve on Wednesday, delivering a 6-4, 6-3 win with nine aces in just over an hour and 14 minutes of play.
The 25-year-old from Montreal capitalized on all three break points he faced and won an impressive 89 percent of his first-serve points.
In the quarterfinals, Auger-Aliassime will face off against top-seeded Jannik Sinner of Italy in what promises to be an exciting match on the hard courts.
Sinner advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over French qualifier Adrian Mannarino in the round of 16.
While Auger-Aliassime is the lone Canadian singles player remaining in the tournament, Canadian doubles specialist Gabriela Dabrowski and her partner, Erin Routliffe of New Zealand, as well as American Caty McNally and Czech player Linda Noskova, will also be in action on Thursday.
