Auger-Aliassime withdraws from Davis Cup tie citing fatigue after U.S. Open run

Felix Auger-Aliassime Withdraws from Canada’s Davis Cup Tie Due to Fatigue
Felix Auger-Aliassime has unfortunately announced his withdrawal from Canada’s upcoming Davis Cup tie due to fatigue, Tennis Canada confirmed on Saturday. The World Group I tie is scheduled to take place in Halifax on Sept. 12-13.
The Montreal native had an impressive run at the U.S. Open, where he reached the semifinals as the 25th seed. However, he was ultimately defeated by world No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy in four sets. This marked Auger-Aliassime’s second semifinal appearance at a Grand Slam tournament, with his first being at the U.S. Open in 2021.
During his U.S. Open campaign, the 25-year-old managed to secure victories over top players such as third-seeded Alexander Zverev, No. 15 seed Andrey Rublev, and eighth-seeded Alex de Minaur before facing Sinner in the semifinals.
Auger-Aliassime’s decision to withdraw from the Davis Cup tie highlights the toll that the grueling tournament schedule can take on players, especially after competing at such a high level in a Grand Slam event. Despite his absence, fans are hopeful that he will return to the court refreshed and ready for future competitions.
