At just 29 years old, MacKinnon has solidified his place in NHL history by becoming the 100th player to reach 1,000 points. He joins the ranks of franchise legends Joe Sakic and Peter Stastny as the third player in Avalanche history to achieve this feat.
“Been here for a while, had some of the best teammates to ever play,” MacKinnon reflected. “Pretty fortunate. Obviously it’s a cool milestone, but it’s over now, and look forward to tomorrow night.”
As the first overall pick in the 2013 draft, MacKinnon has lived up to lofty expectations and is now the first player from his draft class to reach 1,000 points. Fans have come to expect greatness from MacKinnon, as he extended his streak of scoring in 20 consecutive home games.
