B.C. man charged in death of Calgary woman

Calgary police have made a breakthrough in the case of Jelisa Maschki, a young woman who tragically lost her life after being found critically injured along a pathway in northeast Calgary. Nehemiah Walter John Oslund, a 29-year-old man from Cranbrook, B.C., has been charged with one count of manslaughter in connection with Maschki’s death.
Maschki, 23, passed away in hospital on December 10, following an altercation on the Nose Creek Pathway. Authorities declared her death a homicide on December 18, revealing that the incident occurred between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on December 8. It is believed that Maschki and Oslund had a brief interaction along the pathway, leading to the tragic event.
Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit expressed gratitude towards the Cranbrook RCMP for their assistance in the investigation. He emphasized the dedicated efforts made since December 2024 to provide closure to Maschki’s family and loved ones.
