Austin mortuary employee arrested for allegedly ‘experimenting’ on corpses

A shocking case has come to light in North Austin, where a mortuary employee is facing serious felony charges for disturbing acts involving corpses and fraudulent activities related to death certificates. Adeline Ngan-Binh Bui, a 50-year-old employee at Capital Mortuary Services, has been charged with one count of abuse of a corpse and five counts of tampering with governmental records with intent to defraud or harm.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 7, these disturbing incidents date back to at least August 2022. Bui is accused of fraudulently obtaining at least ten death certificates under a former embalmer’s name and license number without consent. The former embalmer has also accused Bui of conducting experiments on severed body parts, specifically the arms of an unknown deceased individual. These experiments involved injecting formaldehyde into the arms and observing the effects over time, as detailed in the court documents.

In a cease-and-desist letter issued to the mortuary on April 10, it was revealed that the funeral home had failed to meet building, health, and safety codes, leading to an immediate halt in operations. The Austin Police Department received eight death certificates allegedly signed by the former embalmer using an electronic signature, raising further concerns about the fraudulent activities at Capital Mortuary Services.

The former embalmer clarified that he was not employed as a funeral director at the mortuary but rather as a crematory operator, driver, and embalmer. He denied accessing the Texas Electronic Vital Events Registrar (TxEVER) to obtain the eight death certificates in question, pointing towards Bui’s involvement in the fraudulent activities.

Bui’s alleged communication with a former employee in December 2023 further incriminated her, as screenshots revealed discussions about monitoring an experiment involving severed arms in various stages of decomposition. Investigators found that Bui allowed these severed body parts to be cremated in a disturbed state, adding to the macabre nature of the case.

In response to these grave allegations, Bui’s legal team emphasized the importance of a fair and just legal process, highlighting the complexities of the case that should not be sensationalized. Despite their defense of Bui, Capital Mortuary Services has since been shut down in light of these disturbing revelations.

This horrifying case serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding ethical standards and respecting the deceased. The justice system will now have the challenging task of unraveling the truth behind these heinous acts to ensure that justice is served.
