4 killed in crash on Highway 103 in Lunenburg County

Four people died Saturday in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 103 in Maitland, NS. Two others were injured.

Four people died Saturday in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 103 in Maitland, NS.

Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a report of a crash around 5 p.m., according to an RCMP press release.

According to the press release, a westbound Ford Escape crossed the centerline of the highway and collided with a Toyota Tacoma heading east.

Seconds later, an eastbound Honda Civic collided with the Toyota, the release said.

The driver of the Ford, a 71-year-old man from Bridgewater, and two female passengers, both 66, were killed in the accident. One of the passengers was from Bridgewater and the other from Hebbville.

The driver of the Toyota, a 31-year-old man from Chester Basin, was also killed. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The two occupants of the Honda were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Highway 103 was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.
