Barger’s hits helps Blue Jays Rally to beat Minnesota Twins 9-8

The Toronto Blue Jays secured a thrilling 9-8 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday evening, thanks to a clutch two-run double from Addison Barger in the eighth inning.
Heading into the bottom of the eighth trailing 8-6, the Blue Jays mounted a comeback against Twins reliever Génesis Cabrera. Pinch-hitter Ty France kickstarted the rally with a solo home run, cutting the deficit to just one run. Alejandro Kirk followed with a single, and Michael Tonkin came in to relieve Cabrera. With two runners on base, Barger stepped up and delivered a crucial double to right field, driving in the tying and go-ahead runs.
Davis Schneider had a standout performance for the Blue Jays, hitting two home runs in the game. Andrés Giménez also contributed a home run of his own. Schneider’s two-out homer in the second inning and leadoff blast in the fourth marked his third career multi-home run game, bringing his season total to 10 home runs.
Pitcher Seranthony Domínguez picked up the win for Toronto, while Jeff Hoffman notched his 29th save of the season. Byron Buxton led the offensive charge for the Twins, hitting two solo home runs in the game. Brooks Lee and Luke Keaschall also added solo shots for Minnesota.
A notable defensive highlight came from Toronto’s Dalton Varsho, who made a spectacular jumping catch to rob Lee of a hit in the third inning. The Twins extended their club record home run streak to 23 games, hitting a total of 45 home runs at Rogers Center since August 26, 2017.
Looking ahead, the Twins are set to face off against the San Diego Padres with RHP Zebby Matthews on the mound, while the Blue Jays will send RHP Shane Bieber to the hill against the Milwaukee Brewers and RHP Freddy Peralta.
Overall, it was an exciting and hard-fought victory for the Blue Jays, showcasing their resilience and offensive firepower. Stay tuned for more thrilling matchups as the season progresses.
