Barry Keoghan to portray ‘Beatles’ drummer Ringo Starr in biopic

Ringo Starr Excited for Barry Keoghan to Play Him in Beatles Biopic

Ringo Starr is looking forward to seeing Barry Keoghan step into his shoes and play the drums as him in an upcoming Beatles biopic. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Starr shared his thoughts on the speculation surrounding Keoghan’s casting in director Sam Mendes’ highly anticipated film.

“I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons and I hope not too many,” Starr remarked, seemingly confirming Keoghan’s involvement in the project.

Despite Starr’s comments, a source close to the production revealed to CNN that no official casting deals have been made yet. Representatives for Starr, Keoghan, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, the studio behind the film, have yet to comment on the matter.

Sony announced earlier this year that Mendes will be directing four separate biopics about the Beatles, with each film focusing on a different band member’s perspective. Alongside Starr, the stories of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison will also be explored.

Speculation has been rife about other actors potentially joining the project, with names like Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson being thrown into the mix. However, Mescal clarified in a recent interview with GQ that while he would love to be involved, nothing has been finalized yet.

The films are set to offer a unique look at the Beatles’ journey, with Mendes granted full access to the band’s life stories and music for the project. Each movie will have its own theatrical release in 2027, promising to intersect and tell the remarkable story of one of the greatest bands in history.
