BC Public sector Employees approve strike campaign, trade union gives a notice period of 72 hours

BC-Almen Employees Approve Strike Action

The trade union of the BC-Almen employees has announced that provincial employees in the public sector have voted to approve strike action. This decision comes after a 72-hour notification was issued for possible strike action starting from 12:01 pm on Tuesday.

Overwhelming Support for Strike Action

Union President and Public Service Bargaining Committee Chairman, Paul Finch, revealed that there was overwhelming support for strike action, with 92.7 percent of members backing the decision. In addition, 86.4 percent of the public service office employees voted in favor of the strike.

According to Finch, this strong mandate reflects the employees’ desire for fair wages and better working conditions.

Breakdown in Negotiations

The trade union decided to call for a strike after negotiations with the agency broke down last month. Voting on the matter began on August 11 and concluded this afternoon.

The BC-Almen employees are now prepared to take action to ensure that their voices are heard and their demands are met.

Stay tuned for further updates on the strike action and its impact on the public sector in British Columbia.
