US Election 2024

Bernie Sanders, on the road with AOC, targets Trump, Musk, Republicans and Democrats

Senator Bernie Sanders continues to make waves as he takes aim at both President Donald Trump and the Democratic Party, along with other billionaires like Elon Musk. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Sanders highlighted the lack of faith in both political parties among the American people, pointing to record-low favorability ratings for the Democratic Party.

Sanders, along with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, embarked on a three-day tour through key western electoral states, including Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado. The duo kicked off their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with a rally at Arizona State University, drawing a crowd of over 11,000 people.

During the rally, Sanders criticized the influence of big money in politics, calling out Elon Musk for his significant donations to Trump’s presidential campaign. Sanders argued that Americans are fed up with a political system dominated by billionaires who fund campaigns in both parties.

The Vermont senator also took aim at Trump’s recent executive order to begin the process of dismantling the Department of Education, calling it an “outrageous” power grab. Sanders emphasized the need for a government that prioritizes the needs of working-class Americans over the interests of billionaires like Musk.

Despite being a part of the Senate Democratic leadership team, Sanders refrained from commenting on calls for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to step down. However, attendees at the rally expressed disappointment with Schumer’s recent support for a Republican-crafted federal funding bill.

In the midst of their tour, three individuals were charged with destroying Tesla cars and charging stations in what Attorney General Pam Bondi labeled as “domestic terrorism.” Sanders condemned the attacks as “outrageous” and stressed that while people have the right to protest, violence is never justified.

As Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez continue their tour, they are pushing for a Democratic Party that fights for the working class and stands up to the influence of billionaires like Musk and Trump. The progressive leaders are calling for a stronger resistance strategy against the Republican agenda and a government that prioritizes the needs of all Americans.
