A viral photo capturing Senator Bernie Sanders, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani in Astoria took social media by storm over the weekend.
Senator Sanders is scheduled to headline a town hall event in Brooklyn as part of his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, where he is expected to campaign for Mamdani, as reported by the New York Times.
The image, posted around 3:36 p.m., quickly garnered over 350,000 views, showing the trio of progressive leaders smiling together in Queens, a moment that elicited both cheers and jeers from supporters and critics alike.
The caption accompanying the photo simply read, “A perfect afternoon in Astoria.”

Sanders, 84, and Mamdani, 33, recently marched together in Manhattan’s Labor Day parade, showcasing unity and solidarity with a “Power in Unity” banner. Governor Kathy Hochul also stood alongside them in support.
Mamdani’s platform centers around democratic socialism and affordability, with promises of free buses and state-run grocery stores funded by increased taxes on the wealthy. He has capped grassroots donations at $8 million.
Sanders, a Brooklyn native, has been using his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour to amplify the voices of younger progressives like Mamdani and Ocasio-Cortez, who continue to resonate with the left wing of New York Democrats.
